Wedding coordinator vs. event coordinator - worth the investment?
There’s a common misconception when it comes to planning a wedding; once you’ve picked your venue, your event coordinator handles the rest. An event (or venue) coordinator is there to assist you with your requirements, but ultimately they are the contact between you and the operational team of that particular venue.
Although most venue coordinators will strive to meet your every need, they also have the venue and team to think about. They know what works best at that location.
When planning a wedding, the finer details are what make a wedding memorable. Do the flowers match the table settings? Do you have an ‘emergency bridal kit’ prepared? When is the bouquet toss again?
This is where a wedding coordinator comes in. They are there for YOU! The small details matter and they are there from first contact, to when the last guest leaves.
A wedding coordinator has insider knowledge and an eye for detail. They get to know you; they understand what you want and they make sure it happens (within reason!) Think of them as your ultimate maid of honour. They have suggestions for the best photographer for the time of your wedding (because lighting matters. They know what makeup artists and hair styles can work cohesively. They may even have recommendations for the florist who brings the freshest bunch, and even throws in a few extra roses.
This isn’t to say your venue coordinator doesn’t care, however it isn’t necessarily their role to organise your bridal party prep (including your luxurious Belle Mariee Boudoir Robe).
A wedding requires a team to perfect, and a wedding coordinator that you trust is your saving grace. Your venue coordinator and wedding coordinator will have the knowledge and experience to create an event you won’t forget, for all the right reasons.
